Beginner & Novice Courses
If you are a brand new paddler, still dry behind the ears, and would like a 2 day lake and river beginner kayak course. We are making special arrangements for you this year. There will be an additional $150 cost to the weekend for you, which is a $50 savings for 2 days equipment and instruction.
Last year we had to cancel the Rendezvous because of the Covid problems. In spite of the provincial lockdown, 60 people showed up at the Castle River Rodeo Campground for their own May long weekend. They cooked their own meals, organized their own trips and gathered over campfires each evening. It wasn't a problem for them and over the summer our paddling community still gathered together to go kayaking.
For 2021, we have revised our annual event to make it fit within the Provincial Covid Health guidelines. We are expecting that the government' will restrict all events this spring, But they will be allowing private campgrounds to operate and will be allowing outdoor dining and take out food services.
So there are some things that we may be able to do, but not in the same ways as we have done in the past. With this in mind the Pinch-o-Crow Creekers is cancelling the 3 Rivers Rendezvous for 2021 on the May long weekend. And instead we are planning for the May Long Gathering of the Clubs
What we will be offering is a chance for clubs and their members to come down to the Castle River Rodeo Campground to camp out for the weekend. The kitchen will be open for food services that you can pick up in the morning and evening and eat in the compound or take back to your campsite. We will have to change the menu a bit to meet Covid standards but we have some ideas on how to maintain our tradition of serving great meals for paddlers.
We will not be able to host our traditional games nights and the river trips will not be organized by us. You will need to figure out how to coordinate trips for your own club/group. I will try and do something about door prizes, raffles and contests that do not require gathering together. We will have more information on that later.
But we look forward to 2021 when we get another shot at hosting our little event for all of you. Stay safe and take care.

May 21 - 24, 2021
Online registration opens March 15th.
We are opening our registration page but things are up in the air a bit. We are optimistically hopeful that we will be able to host you on the May long weekend, but who knows what will be happening in this world by then .... The campground has been booked and Sue says she can pull all the food and fixings together with one week's notice. For now we are keeping our fingers crossed hoping that things will get better.
Here is the info package for the May Long Gathering. We have opened the Registration so people can register and pay for their weekend. Be assured that if we can't host you this year, we will give you a 100% refund.
The Lions Club has upgraded the compound with a new covered food prep and dining area. Camping is going to be the same as in the past but we will have to spread you out more. We will be at the Castle River Rodeo Grounds. It is centrally located and easy to find off Highway 507 between Lundbreck/Burmis and Beaver Mines, just 10.7 km south of Highway 3. This site is well sheltered with flush toilets and a camp kitchen and lots of room for everyone – even those softies that bring trailers. https://www.pinchocrowcreekers.com/campground-map
Drive west on Highway 3 past Lundbreck Falls till you come to Highway 507. Turn south and head towards Beaver Mines and Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Drive 10.7 km south, after you cross the Castle River at the top of the hill, turn east to the Castle River Rodeo Grounds. The road swings back down to the river and we are camped right there.
Our menu plan is in flux right now as we move through our planning. There will be vegetarian, keto, and gluten free options for those wanting them. You must let us know if you want a special plate in advance so that we can order enough.
We will be providing disposable plates, cups, and cutlery this year because of the Covid protocols. And we will not be providing a wash station to eliminate the possibility of cross contamination.
Oldman River Brewing from Lundbreck is sponsoring our Beer Garden on Saturday & Sunday night. We will have 2 of their beers on tap each night. Two beer/wine tickets will be included in adult registrations. Extra tickets will be on sale.
If you have been in the pool this winter and want to head to the river we are offering a 2 day novice kayak clinic at an extra fee of $150. Instructors will do a quick review on the lake before heading over to the river to introduce you to the current.
THESE COURSES HAVE TO BE PRE-REGISTERED so we can arrange to have an Instructor available to teach you.
