Summer Camps

This is where you will find information on our 4 and 5 day camps .

POCC has a long history of great fun summer camps for kids ages 10 and up. We have three weeks available for beginner kayakers. Each camp starts in a beautiful warm lake and progresses through the week to finish with a Class II river run.  If you or your child has already participated in one of our camps ask about our advanced camp.

This is a great way to engage in a fun sport with other kids. Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm with flexibility for pick up times.  Everyone needs a big lunch with lots of water, a bathing suit and towel, a change of dry clothes  and a whole lot of energy.

What Happens:

We start on a warm water lake and learn how to get in and out of the kayak, even when it’s upside down. Next you learn how to paddle the kayak in a straight line and in circles. Then we show you how to roll your kayak upright after you flip. Our favorite games are tag, football and finding the turtles. Day two we are on to an easy river, the Crowsnest River by Lundbreck, where you’ll learn about reading the river, eddy turns, ferries and paddling through the waves. On the 3rd day we work on your roll and test out the bigger water on the Oldman River below the dam. Day four we are in Castle Canyon running rapids and ledges. We finish the week on the warm water of the St Mary where parents and siblings can join us in a rubber ducky.
